Gorgeous Mixed Metal Sterling Silver Pair of Salt and Pepper Shakers made by Gorham in 1880

Presented is an antique pair of Gorham Mixed Metal sterling silver salt and pepper shakers with applied copper embellishments made by Gorham in 1880. This 19th century set has a fine, hand spot hammered finish.  The shakers have a Chinoiserie theme, one shaker with a man smoking a pipe in a traditional Chinese hat with a tree on the reverse, the other with a woman holding a parasol, with a swallow and prunus branch on the reverse.

The underside of each shaker is marked for Gorham, sterling silver purity, production number A92 and has a date letter M for the year 1880.

This set is in excellent condition for its age. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

Height: 3 1/8 inches.

Weight: 101 grams or 3.247 troy ounces  $1,195.00

These are absolutely a superb museum quality example of Gorham's mixed metal craftsmanship at its very finest.   The design complexity and Asian influencing is unique and very rare.   This pair would rival any comparable Tiffany pieces of a similar nature.
